SANTIAGO
ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE PARISH
- Santiago (Carig) has a rich history of Catholic missions, starting in 1746 with only 47 catechumens.
- The Dominican Order managed the parish until 1910, when the Missionaries of Immaculate Heart (C.I.C.M.) took over.
- In 1948, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette arrived, rebuilding the church by 1954.
- Over time, parish initiatives focused on catechesis, pastoral care, and lay leadership.
- In 1998, the church expanded due to growing parishioner numbers.
- The La Salette missionaries continued their work until 2006, leaving behind a renovated and thriving St. James the Apostle Parish.
