Santiago (Carig) has a rich history of Catholic missions, starting in 1746 with only 47 catechumens.
The Dominican Order managed the parish until 1910, when the Missionaries of Immaculate Heart (C.I.C.M.) took over.
In 1948, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette arrived, rebuilding the church by 1954.
Over time, parish initiatives focused on catechesis, pastoral care, and lay leadership.
In 1998, the church expanded due to growing parishioner numbers.
The La Salette missionaries continued their work until 2006, leaving behind a renovated and thriving St. James the Apostle Parish.
