- Bulalacao, one of Mindoro’s oldest communities, was mentioned in Chinese records as "Mait" in the 10th century.
- It became part of the Spanish church district in 1732.
- The Recoletos missionaries returned in 1806.
- By 1810, baptism records showed a growing Christian influence.
